St John’s bid farewell to Fr Raymond


The St John’s parish community gathered recently in the parish centre to bid a fond farewell to much-loved priest Fr Raymond Dempsey. After four years of dedicated service, the Kilmacow native leaves St John’s to embark on the demanding ministry as chaplain in St Luke’s hospital.

A time for gratitude

The St John’s parish community is filled with a mix of emotions as they say goodbye to Fr Raymond. While there is sadness at his departure, there is also a deep sense of gratitude for the time he has spent with them. During his ministry Fr Raymond has been a guiding light in the community, providing spiritual guidance, support, and love to all who have come to know him.

During his tenure, Fr Raymond has left an indelible mark on the parish. His tireless efforts to build a strong, vibrant community have borne fruit, and his legacy will continue to inspire and guide parishioners for years to come. From his thoughtful homilies to his compassionate counseling, Fr Raymond has been an inspiring leader, a trusted confidante and a true shepherd.

A new beginning

As Fr Raymond begins his new assignment, the parish community prays for his continued success and happiness. They know that his dedication, compassion, and love will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those he serves. The parish will miss him dearly, but they also recognize that his transfer brings him new opportunities for growth and renewal.

A final farewell

At the farewell ceremony, St John’s Parish  team leader, Monsignor Dan Carroll wished Fr Raymond success in his new ministry and offered sincere and heartfelt thanks to Fr Raymond for his commitment, compassion and his leadership. Concluding, Monsignor Carroll assured Fr Raymond that he will always retain a special place within the St John’s parish community. In an emotional farewell address Fr Raymond thanked the people of St John’s for their kindness during his ministry and said that a portion of his heart will be forever linked with the parish.
