Smithwick’s Experience Kilkenny launches a special Halloween night filled with thrills, chills and ales

First ever Smithwick’s After Dark’ is launched and tickets now on sale

Smithwick’s Experience Kilkenny is preparing for a spooktacular Halloween night with an exclusive ‘Smithwick’s After Dark’ event on Saturday, October 31.

As darkness descends over medieval Kilkenny, visitors will step inside the historic home of Smithwick’s for a Halloween celebration inspired by Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival often associated with the origins of modern Halloween.

For over 2,000 years, Samhain has held a special place in the heart of Irish people, rooted in folklore and storytelling, Ignacio Peregrina, Smithwick’s Experience Kilkenny Manager, said.

The history-steeped brewery site in the heart of medieval Kilkenny and in the shadow of St Francis Abbey is the perfect venue for such a Halloween event, he said, and encouraged groups of friends, corporate groups and individual visitors to plan their costumes, book their places now and join in the celebrations.

“At Smithwick’s, storytelling runs through every fibre of who we are. Our experienced storytellers are ready to regale visitors with haunting tales from Kilkenny’s past and stories connected to the historic St Francis Abbey Brewery.

“As the stories unfold, visitors will enjoy live music, hearty seasonal bites, and a selection of Smithwick’s favourites, all within one of Ireland’s most distinctive historic venues.

“Whether you’re drawn by the traditions of Samhain, the stories of old Kilkenny, or simply looking for an unforgettable night out, we invite locals and visitors to Kilkenny to gather their friends and celebrate Halloween with us in the heart of the city.

“We’re really looking forward to an incredible night in this unique, authentic and history-steeped location. Costumes are optional but strongly encouraged,” Ignacio said.
