Fran helps kick a €20,000 goal

A GARDEN Olympics, supported by Kilkenny and Carlow locals has raised €20,010 for our Good Shepherd Centre.

The cash splash will help fund support services for families who use the Good Shepherd Centre.

“To raise that sum is incredible,” centre manager Noel Sherry told The Kilkenny Observer.

Sports heroes including Kilkenny hurling manager Brian Cody were put their paces in their back gardens as part of the initiative.

Kilkenny business man Fran Grincell kicked a ball outside his home every night for a fortnight to raise money.

“To all who spun or binned, to every egg and spoon champion and every keepie uppie queen, thank you,” said KCLR 96fm’s Head of Content Eimear Ní Bhraonáin.

The fund-raiser was organised by the local radio station.
