Red Mills Race Day returned with a bang on Feb 19th, with fashion, flutters, and fun guaranteed!

After two years, Red Mills Race Day’s return on the 19th of Feb was truly a turn-up for the books. With record crowds, it’s safe to say that the public was keen to return to Gowran Park for this hotly anticipated event. To celebrate the long-awaited return, all tickets were provided completely free of charge to all racegoers, and attendees returned the favour by bringing style and flair to all proceedings.

With the public off and running in the fashion stakes, Marietta Doran, stylist and presenter, was well-placed to present a host of fashion shows on the day, showcasing the latest in racing style from Connolly’s Red Mills. With a pop-up shop in the style marquee bursting with must-have items from the Red Mills Store, there was something for everyone.

No race day is complete without a little sartorial competition, which is why Connolly’s Red Mills hosted their biggest Best-Dressed competition yet, with several fully virtual categories, as well as in-person Best-Dressed competition with amazing prizes from Mount Juliet Estate, Dubarry, the Lord Bagenal Hotel and many more.

All finalists were presented before the fabulous Marietta and her fellow judge, celeb broadcaster and all-round man of style, Deric Hartigan, who had their work cut out for them.

After fierce deliberation, the top prize of an incredible stay at the Manor House at Mount Juliet Estate, complete with dinner in the Michelin starred Lady Helen restaurant, champagne on arrival and a horse-riding excursion went to the very deserving Megan Conlon from Thomastown County Kilkenny, who wowed the judges with her Chanel inspired suit which was borrowed from her sister, and matching hat and boots.

All proceeds from the day went to the Irish Injured Jockeys, to help support the vital work they do in providing support and care for jockeys, past, and present, as well as their families.

All of our winners on the day shared an amazing eye for detail, as well as an unmistakeable elegance, and each of them took real care to reflect the hope the excitement of the day and the celebration of a return to racing in their outfits!
