New Kilkenny Through the Eyes of the Brewers Tour begins

Simon Walsh Smithwick's Experience Kilkenny

Smithwick’s Experience Kilkenny is extending its offering with a new ‘Kilkenny Through the Eyes of the Brewers’ tour that offers over 18s a not-to-be-missed adventure back in time.

Visitors to the city and locals with a passion for history and brewing will not want to miss the new tour on Thursday, August 20, starting at 6pm. “The immersive tour of Kilkenny City tells the story of the rich brewing heritage, and the important role brewing culture has played in shaping both Smithwick’s and Kilkenny’s evolution,” Ignacio Peregrina, Smithwick’s Experience Kilkenny Manager, said.

“We’re inviting visitors to discover fascinating stories, hidden gems, and spectacular sights as they explore the city through the eyes of its brewers. This unique experience has been created by Smithwick’s Experience’s head Brewery Ambassador, Simon Walsh and will reveal remarkable stories of Kilkenny’s brewing past while showcasing some of the city’s most iconic locations.

“Simon’s family are steeped in brewing tradition and his father, uncles, cousins, and other family members all worked in the Smithwick’s brewery through the years. He is a passionate storyteller and has played a leading role in the development of our increasingly popular Masters of Ale tours,” Ignacio explained.

The new Kilkenny Through the Eyes of the Brewer experience begins at Smithwick’s Experience Kilkenny, includes a guided walking tour through the city, and concludes with a paddle tasting in the bar.
