Natural solutions for hay fever

BY CLAIR WHITTY

Hay fever affects thousands of people every year, with symptoms that affect the eyes, nose, and throat. Some of you will have symptoms from early March right through to late autumn; especially if your symptoms are triggered by all the various sources of pollen which can include pollen from trees, shrubs, weeds, or grass. This can make for a very long season of sneezing. Symptoms can also be triggered by dust, animal dander, and perfume.
Hay fever happens because your immune system thinks that pollen or other airborne allergens are dangerous to your body. So, in order to protect itself your body reacts by releasing histamine and increasing inflammation. The combination of histamine and inflammation contribute to many of the symptoms you experience. A natural approach would be to use natural antihistamines and support the immune system so that it doesn’t overreact to pollen.
Quercetin is a natural remedy that you could try, it has natural anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antihistamine properties. It is thought to help hay fever symptoms by inhibiting the manufacture and release of histamine. Quercetin is found in fruit and vegetables, especially onions. Vitamin C contributes to normal functioning of your immune system and research suggests it may reduce histamine. Vitamin C is found in fruit and vegetables. Bromelain found in pineapple has natural anti-inflammatory properties. Including a wide variety of these and brightly coloured fruit and vegetables in your diet ‘will help ensure that you’re getting some of these important nutrients.
For extra support take a look at Higher Nature Quercetin and Bromelain with vitamin C.  An ideal combination to help support your immune system and make the most of quercetin and bromelain’s beneficial effects. It is highly recommended that you start supplements for hay fever at least four or five weeks before exposure but it is never too late, just get started on it as soon as you can. It’s suitable from age four onwards.
Certain nasal sprays can be harsh on the delicate tissues in the nasal passageways so instead you could try A.Vogel Pollinosan Luffa Nasal Spray. It works by rinsing and cleansing the nose of hay fever causing allergens. Plus, it restores fluid and moisture in the nasal passages making the nose feel soothed and more comfortable.
Don’t let hay fever slow you down when nature is here to help stop the sneezing.
