Entrepreneur’s sister also moved from Dublin to Kilkenny for a better work/life balance

Karina Cahill moved to Kilkenny from Lucan in Dublin over 15 years ago and her experience of living, working and raising a family has spurred her sister and family to also make Kilkenny their new home.

“I moved here in 2010 and met my husband here. I started out in the city and we moved to just outside Callan after that to raise our family. I absolutely adore Kilkenny. I don’t think I’d ever move anywhere else.

“I love getting abroad for a holiday but there’s nowhere like the sunny south east,” she said in the run-up to free, ‘Live Work, Visit, Invest Kilkenny’ showcase at St Canice’s Cathedral on Saturday, November 7.

“Kilkenny has everything, whether you’re a single person or married with a family. The infrastructure if fabulous. The kids can get the bus to school. We’re rural but we’re not rural at the same time, we’re only down the road.

“The amenities in Kilkenny are fabulous, whether it be the cinema, going for a stroll in the Castle Park or whatever interests you have. There’s so much to do, so much so that my sister and her husband moved down here two years ago from city centre Dublin. They would say the same, they’ve never looked back.

“As well as running my own business, Melt Your Day Away, I’m also Vice President of Network Ireland in Kilkenny and will be President come the end of this year. It has been absolutely fabulous. Kilkenny people are so welcoming, it has been amazing. Because I’m a small business, I need to connect and network lots. I couldn’t commend Kilkenny enough as a place to live, work and raise a family.”

From her home in Callan, Co Kilkenny, Karina has grown her own business, Melt Your Day Away https://meltyourdayaway.com into a family-run enterprise. The Irish wellbeing and home fragrance brand also stocks a growing range of carefully selected Irish body products.

‘Live Work, Visit, Invest Kilkenny’ takes place in the Round Tower in the Cathedral on Saturday, November 7. Attendees will have a unique opportunity to browse at their leisure, connect directly with local businesses and discover how they can grow their career in The Marble City and surrounding towns and villages.

The showcase will run from 10am right through to 1pm and members of the public will be able to enjoy panel discussions and even catch a live podcast recording of The Simpler Life? with James Kavanagh and William Murray during the event. Both have made Kilkenny their base, having moved here from Dublin, partly thanks to the widespread availability of Fiber Broadband in Kilkenny.

Attendees will get an exclusive opportunity to chat with employers and get the inside scoop on available job roles. Business and Broadband representatives will be ready to answer questions and help them find the perfect fit, based on their interests and experience.

Free tickets are limited and interested members of the public can register here: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/live-work-visit-invest-kilkenny-tickets-2000259843036
