Community spirit shines at Newpark Christmas lunch

The Newpark community came together in the spirit of Christmas cheer on Saturday, 13 December, as locals gathered for the annual community lunch. The festive event, held at the Glendine Inn, saw residents come together to enjoy a traditional Christmas meal. The lunch was a chance for the community to connect, share stories, and have fun with friends and neighbours.

Community Spirit

“This is what Christmas is all about – community, kindness and good company,” said Jack Fahy, Chair of the Residents’ Association. “It’s wonderful to see so many familiar faces, and some new ones too. We’re grateful to the organising committee for their time, effort and commitment, which made this day such a success.”

Laughter and Warmth

“It was a fantastic day, full of laughter and warmth,” said attendee Donie Phelan. “It’s great to see the community come together like this. We owe the Residents’ Committee a major debt of gratitude for continuing to strengthen neighbourhood bonds and promoting an inclusive sense of community.”

Five in a Row

As the Seán Shortis Big Band provided the après-lunch entertainment, there was great excitement as the judges of the ‘Best Christmas Jumper’ competition announced Frankie Kavanagh as the winner. This triumph ensured Frankie’s ‘five in a row’. Frankie’s year of preparation certainly paid off.

Annual Tradition

The Christmas community lunch has become a beloved annual tradition, and the 2025 event did not disappoint. Mark your calendars for next year – it’ll be here before you know it!
