Wexford family business Joyces Expert celebrates exciting new chapter with official opening attended by hurling stars Lee Chin and Jackie Tyrrell.
Kilkenny Retail Park was buzzing on Saturday, October 10th, as Joyces Expert officially opened the doors of its brand-new store in Kilkenny. A great crowd turned out to celebrate the occasion, with Wexford hurling star Lee Chin and Kilkenny hurling legend Jackie Tyrrell officially cutting the ribbon. Visitors enjoyed special opening offers, refreshments and plenty of prizes, adding to the excitement of the day.
Established in 1944 by Murt Joyce Snr, Joyces began as a small hardware store at 7 North Main Street in Wexford Town. Over eight decades later, the business has grown into a well-established family retailer, offering an extensive range of home appliances, televisions, audio equipment and technology, while remaining true to the values on which it was founded.
Now in its third generation, the family business is led by Derek and Murt Joyce, alongside Derek’s sons, Cillian and Ciaran and Murt’s son Murt Junior. The opening of Joyces Expert Kilkenny marks an exciting new milestone in the company’s journey, bringing its long-standing reputation for quality products, expert advice and customer service to a new audience.
Located in Kilkenny Retail Park, the new store offers customers access to leading brands across home appliances, TVs, audio and technology, backed by the friendly, knowledgeable service that has been at the heart of Joyces since 1944.
Reflecting on the company’s remarkable journey, the Joyce family remembers the determination and entrepreneurial spirit of its founder, Murt Joyce Snr. From cycling to Dublin to source products during the challenges of the Second World War to embracing new opportunities in electrical appliances and television, his ambition laid the foundations for the business Joyces is today.
Derek Joyce said: “We are delighted to have officially opened our new store in Kilkenny and have been so pleased with the warm welcome we have received from the people of Kilkenny. We are very much looking forward to becoming part of the local community and welcoming customers into our new store.”
The opening represents a significant step in Joyces’ continued growth beyond its Wexford roots. As the business looks to the future, it remains committed to bringing quality products, expert advice and exceptional customer service to customers in Wexford, Kilkenny and beyond, while continuing the family tradition established more than 80 years ago.
