The Mill Family Resource Centre would like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who joined us and supported our Annual Family Fun Day at the Centre on Sunday, August 16th. The event once again proved to be a wonderful afternoon for the local community, with families, friends and supporters coming together to enjoy the activities while supporting an important cause. The Annual Family Fun Day is a key fundraiser for the Centre, helping to support the Counselling and Play Therapy Services provided to children, young people and families in Urlingford and the surrounding areas. These services play an important role in the community, and the continued support of local people, businesses and organisations is greatly appreciated.
The afternoon offered something for everyone, with a fantastic selection of stalls, activities and displays. Among the attractions were the Agri Aware Farm, face painting, a bric-a-brac stall, cake stall, barbecue, knitting and crochet group and a military display. There was a great atmosphere throughout the afternoon, with plenty of people taking the opportunity to browse the stalls, enjoy some refreshments and catch up with friends and neighbours.
The Mill Family Resource Centre would also like to thank all those who took part and helped make the day such a success, including Cois Nore, Urlingford Fire Brigade and An Garda Síochána. Their participation added greatly to the event and was enjoyed by those attending, particularly the younger members of the crowd.
A special word of thanks goes to the Centre staff – Sue Cox, Josephine Rafter, Gráinne Ryan and Sinéad Brennan – along with all the volunteers who gave generously of their time both in the preparation for the event and throughout the day. They included Selina Murphy, Mary Phelan, Phyllis Carroll, Geraldine Byrne, Kathleen Gleeson, Kyle Keogh, Tadhg Webster, Paddy Bambrick, Shannon Stranger and Edel Leahy.
The bingo proved to be a major hit with the large crowd, with plenty of excitement and good humour as people competed for the various prizes. The crowd remained afterwards for the monster raffle, which provided a fitting finale to a very enjoyable afternoon.
The Centre is particularly grateful to all the businesses, organisations and individuals who sponsored prizes and made donations towards the raffle.
