Mayor David Fitzgerald- ‘’This is an opportunity of a generation for Kilkenny to deliver and to develop a major National Arts and Cultural Centre here on the banks of the River Nore

Cllr David FitzGerald has called on the people of Kilkenny to back him in a bid for a National Arts and Cultural Centre to be developed in the heart of Kilkenny City. The Mayor of Kilkenny wants to see a major landmark building to be part of the next phase of the Kilkenny Abbey Quarter development.

Cllr FitzGerald said as Kilkenny Mayor he wants to encourage the people of Kilkenny to support his campaign for a landmark Arts and Cultural Centre by the banks of the Nore.‘’This is an opportunity of a generation for Kilkenny to deliver and to develop a major National Arts and Cultural Centre here on the banks of the River Nore. Over ten years ago in my previous term as Mayor we bought site the old Brewery, the people of Kilkenny came to me and said they want a landmark building in the Abbey Quarter. This is our opportunity and we should lobby, work and support the delivery of a new theatre, a new arts centre, a new performance base, a new gallery. This is an opportunity to lead a legacy for generations to come.’’
