Kilkenny City has an exciting weekend coming up, when on Saturday 2nd and Sunday December 3rd, The Marble City Music Festival will come to life


Contempo string quartet

The festival is the brainchild of the extraordinary violinist and Kilkenny native Patrick Rafter. According to Patrick there is an amazing welcome , with epic musicians in store on what promises to be a music lovers dream.

Patrick will be joined by Irelands leading musicians including The Contempo String Quartet, Fiachra Garvey, and Rachel Factor.

Al concerts will be staged at St Johns Priory in John Street.

Speaking with The Kilkenny Observer Newspaper Patrick said : “ I want to warmly invite people to our festival and be inspired by wonderful musicians and enjoy the transformative power of music,”

Mr Rafter , now an internationally recognised musician , is guaranteeing a very special and heartfelt welcome to all patrons.

The programme opens on Saturday December 2nd, will include Patrick performing with the talented Irish pianist Fiachra Garvey , with works that include Schumann, Ravel, Sarasate and Chopin.

On Sunday December 3rd, there will be two concerts at 1pm and 4pm

On this occasion Patrick performs the much loved Vivaldi Four Seasons . Accompanying Patrick will be the the cream of Irish musicians, The Contempo String Quartet, who have won over fifteen International awards. Alo appearing will be Harpsichordist Rachel Factor.

All concerts will be of one hour duration.
