Michael Doyle

Kilkenny student scores top exam marks

Michael Doyle scored 100% in all of his Leaving Certificate Applied subjects.

Kilkenny student Michael Doyle has received the Feargal Quinn Award for achieving one of the highest LCA results in the country.

Michael, from St. Mullins, Carlow has attended the School of the Holy Spirit on the Callan Road for the past number of years and was presented with an engraved plaque and certificate at the LCANA Conference held in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel in Athlone last Saturday. Michael graduated from the Kilkenny school in June and received 100% in all subject areas, specialisms, and tasks in his LCA results.

The LCANA ‘Feargal Quinn Awards’ are presented each year to students who achieve top credits in the Leaving Certificate Applied Examination of that year. The awards are named after Senator Feargal Quinn, who was the first Chairman of the steering committee for the then new Leaving Certificate Applied.

Away from the books, Michael has a keen interest in music and piano and is also an active member of Kilkenny Comhairle na nÓg and the Comhairle na nÓg National Executive.

The award winner is continuing his education in Ormonde College of Further Education where he is studying media.

In a post released on social-media, the School of the Holy Spirit expressed their delight and congratulations to their past pupil, stating: “We are so proud of him and wish him well for his future studies! We hope his family enjoy this special day.

“Michael has proven the importance of a varied and rich secondary school curriculum being provided in special schools,” they said.

Michael is currently on work experience with The Kilkenny Observer and we would all like to congratulate him and we wish him every success in his future career.
