Ashwagandha What’s it all about?

BY CLAIR WHITTY

Ashwagandha is an interesting herb and one of my favourites. It’s classed as an adaptogenic herb which means that it can help the body to adapt and cope with stress of any kind that it has to deal with.
In Ayurvedic medicine it’s traditionally used for strengthening an exhausted nervous system. This is probably one reason why it is fast becoming a popular herb that peri menopausal women all over the world are choosing. By the time most of us reach this stage of our lives we are frazzled and the nerves are possibly in shreds. We can be exhausted, irritable, and experience low mood. The possible lack of sleep due to hot flushes, stress, overthinking, and worry doesn’t help. Hormonal imbalance can play havoc on our endocrine system. Ashwagandha’s ability to help calm and relax, and at the same time energise makes it the perfect choice during this stage of a woman’s life.
Other properties include: Anti-inflammatory for pain especially if it’s associated with stress. It’s Immune modulating and is used to support a weakened immune system. It’s classed as a reproductive tonic helping both women and men, it is reputed to be a good aphrodisiac. And also helps increase sperm production and motility. It can benefit all muscle tissue and is used traditionally as a heart tonic, lung tonic, as well as for increasing muscle weight and tone in convalescents.
Sporty and active people may also like it, it’s classed as an anabolic muscle builder, which means that it helps to build and maintain muscle.
Ashwagandha is extremely popular for people who are stressed due to a busy lifestyle, job or both. Or if you’re feeling anxious, worried, or you overthink things, it can help you relax and feel focussed. Especially useful for exams or periods of worry about medical issues.
Jayne recently chose Flora Stressveda for stress when she was facing her end of year exams. She said it was brilliant, she said she felt relaxed, calm, and said she could focus clearly on the questions in front of her. Flora Stressveda is a unique blend of KSM-66 Ashwagandha with B Complex. Jayne felt better with more energy and focus, and less stressed too, Jayne gives Stressveda the thumbs up.Hope you find it as good as she does.
