Headaches are a common health complaint with many different causes. It can be something simple like dehydration and needing to drink extra water. They can be connected to hormonal imbalance, related to food intolerance, stress or lack of sleep. Dips in blood sugar and not eating regularly can be a cause. Certain medication, constipation, bad lighting, in a way, anything could be the reason why you get a headache. When someone asks me for a natural solution for headaches I have to tease out the possible cause and work from there to choose the best remedy to help.
The most common reason that I come across is stress and tension headaches. I have experienced these in the past and refused to believe for a long time that headaches could be associated with stress. That was when I worked in a hardware store and knew nothing about natural remedies. But when I started to work in natural health, I did accept that it could be stress related. I started to take Bach Flower Remedies to help. I realised that I was feeling overwhelmed, Elm is the remedy for that. I was tired so I needed Olive, which is perfect for exhaustion of the mind and the body. I was angry a lot back then, so Holly was the perfect flower remedy for this, and Scleranthus because I found it difficult to make up my mind about anything. I added these to one dropper bottle and took them regularly. At the same time I would add a drop of Lavender Essential Oil to my temples, one drop on each. And between the two of these, and maybe a realisation and an acceptance that I was stressed, I never looked back. I got headaches under control. Maybe this approach could work for you too?
