Friday March 20th is the International Day of the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Kilkenny County Council is inviting all residents of County Kilkenny to take part in the Wear Red Day, the signature day of Show Racism the Red Card. This Campaign is the Immigrant Council of Irelands National Day of Celebration of diversity and inclusion, dedicated to raising awareness about racism and promoting respect and equality.
Show Racism the Red Card programme provides educational resources, workshops, training and awareness-raising activities for primary and secondary schools, youth groups, workplaces and sporting stakeholders nationwide.
By wearing red, the people of Kilkenny can send a strong message that racism has no place in our community. This simple act shows that we welcome diversity, celebrate it, and recognize that our society is stronger and richer because of it.
This initiative is co-funded by the Ireland Against Racism Fund.
