Natural solutions for everyday ailments

BY CLAIR WHITTY

Every day we get asked for natural solutions for things like pain, earache, headaches, and warts.

For aches, pains, and stiffness, one of the first natural cures I learned about was the apple cider vinegar cure. I clearly remember a customer telling me about it almost 20 years ago now. Add one tablespoon of cider vinegar, one teaspoon of molasses, and one teaspoon of good quality local honey to boiling water and sip. He drank this every morning, and said it was fantastic. He had less discomfort, stiffness, and pain, and swore by it. We have shared this remedy over the years and like him, many found it to be very helpful in relieving pain and discomfort.

For toothache, Clove Bud Essential Oil is a go to for many. My older brother, told me that he had first heard about it in the film, Marathon Man over 30 years ago. If you saw the film, you’ll know what he is talking about! Clove Bud Oil has been traditionally used for painful toothache. Soak a cotton pad in water diluted with Clove Bud oil and bite down on the pad for some pain relief.

For headaches, try dabbing a few drops of Lavender essential oil on the temples. Or for earaches dilute Lavender in olive oil and massage behind the ears. Do a patch test first. I have used Lavender for headaches and earaches and I have to say it helped me when needed. Or if you prefer, you could try Magnesium Malate internally. It may be a good form to try for headaches that are associated with stress or tension.

A clove of garlic a day can help support immunity, and has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. When it comes to garlic some of you might prefer to take it in capsule form, Solgar Garlic is an option for you to try. You could try a garlic cure externally to help get rid of warts. To make the concoction, place three cloves of garlic in a small jar with olive oil for three days. After this time use a cotton ear bud to dab some of the garlic oil onto the wart morning and evening. Cover if you can and repeat daily. It has a very strong smell, so you may be lucky to manage this once a day!

Maybe you have some old cures you would like to share with me? I would love to hear from you if you do.
