48 Acts-a guide to happiness and contentment

Kilkenny man Paddy Rafter launches his book ‘The 48 Acts on December 6’

Kilkennyman Paddy Rafter is well known as a singer and a member of the wonderful Rafter singing and musical family. He is also former college lecturer, academy director and racehorse trainer. A husband and father, Paddy has sung many times not only in Kilkenny and Ireland, but all over the world. Now Paddy Rafter launches his first book and this week he sat down with The Kilkenny Observer for a chat.

The modern world is a place filled with conflict, anxiety and fear. We are bombarded with tragedies, wars, climate crises, false truths, lies and every other imaginable catastrophe. We ourselves are struggling to live, to be able to afford our own home, look after ourselves and be independent, in this increasingly unfair and unequal world. We are constantly anxious, stressed and feel powerless. Our anxiety is all pervasive. We worry about ourselves, our children, our parents, our work, our image. Everything has become fraught with anxiety and fear, and though we never had more material things, we have never been as apprehensive and disturbed.

Our history, our values, our beliefs and our certainties have all been eroded.

We are all on edge and finding it difficult to cope. We have tried every strategy to deal with this but the reality is our mental health is deteriorating rapidly. We have responded in the wrong way. Our anxieties, depressions and addictions are at an all-time high, and some of our responses and behaviours have become maladaptive. Never have we had so much recourse and access to information and services on mental health but they seem to be having very little impact as the problems are becoming exponentially worse.

According to Paddy Rafter, there is an answer. There is a new way to live a truly happy life. There is a new way to cope with all your worries, anxieties and problems so that you can feel fulfilled and content. This new way is called The 48 Acts.

The 48 Acts is a guide to happiness and contentment, setting out how we can not only improve our own lives for ourselves but for society as a whole.

Local man Paddy Rafter has developed a new programme for living called The 48 Acts. Paddy is a singer, a musician, former college lecturer, academy director and racehorse trainer, husband and father. Paddy has sung many times not only in Kilkenny and Ireland, but all over the world.

Having lived an extraordinary life with many ups and downs, Paddy has also lived a life of trauma and addiction from an early age and this has led him to many dark places. In the very depths of profound suffering, he fought to find a way out of the hell in which he constantly lived. He discovered a new way to live and discovered a new way to experience the world, in peace, happiness and contentment. A life free from anxiety and fear.

Using this knowledge and experience that he has garnered over a lifetime, he desires to share it with all, so that nobody else should suffer alone, in pain and in silence, but use this new way to freedom and joy.

What are The 48 Acts?

The 48 Acts is a programme for living. It is a way to cope with every problem we encounter in an increasingly complex and difficult world. The book is written specifically to help deal with all the challenges and difficulties we encounter in the modern world. More importantly, is the result of fifty years of study and pain, knowledge and powerlessness, despair and new hope. The 48 Acts are laid out in successive progressions that are easily understood and easily undertaken. They deal with each and every problem you will ever encounter. They are the answer when everything else fails.

According to the author, this is the most successful way you will ever find to deal with all your difficulties, despairs and disasters and emerge with new hope, comfort and vigour.

The Kilkenny Observer asked Mr Rafter why this is the most successful programme for living?

“Because , explained the author, “the 48 Acts are based on experience. They are based on reality”.

Paddy went on to explain: “There are no lies, deceits or false promises in the 48 Acts. It offers no false hopes or snake oil salesman’s pitch. This works because they really do work. Everyone who has followed these ideas that have now become The 48 Acts has experienced a total transformation in their lives.”

Paddy is launching his book, The 48 Acts, in The Set Theatre, Langton’s House Hotel, John Street Kilkenny on Wednesday the 6th of December at 7.30 pm. At the launch Paddy will also provide a short Rafter family concert and finger food will be available.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

Although Paddy has travelled the world, his heart has always been in Kilkenny. He is a well known sportsman and loves hurling, soccer, equestrian and sport in general. With all this in mind Paddy particularly wanted the launch of this book the 48 Acts to take place in his native city.

All are welcome.
