Kilkenny County Council Shortlisted for Multiple Categories at LAMA Awards 2026

Kilkenny County Council is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted in six categories for the prestigious Local Authority Members Association (LAMA) Awards 2026. In addition, Kilkenny County Council has earned a nomination for the highly coveted title of Local Authority of the Year.

The LAMA Awards celebrate excellence in local government, recognising projects and initiatives that make a positive impact on communities across Ireland. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the awards and 40 years of the LAMA Executive, with the awards ceremony set to take place on the 28th of February 2026.

Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr. Mary Hilda Cavanagh commented, “We are honoured to receive these nominations, being shortlisted in so many categories is a testament to the collaborative efforts of staff, elected members, and community partners. It is a proud moment for Kilkenny, and we look forward to the awards ceremony.”

The categories and nominated projects are as follows:

 – Best Green Sustainable Initiative: Championing Community Climate Action
 – Best Business working with the Community: The Barrow Valley Activity Hub and Motorhome Aire
 – Best Community-Scale Enhancements – The Gowran Inclusive Activity Hub
 – Best Inclusive Public Realm & Accessibility Project – Woodstock Gardens and Arboretum
 – Best Sustainable Infrastructure & Climate Action – Mayfair Library
 – Best CSR Project in a Community – Team Up to Clean Up Kilkenny
